What is SonoCine?
An investigational, computer-guided ultrasound whole-breast cancer detection process currently undergoing a multi-center trial to determine if this method of breast screening by ultrasound can discover breast cancers not found by screening mammography or physical examination.

    The SonoCine method
  • Semi-automated
  • Can image entire breast to include axilla
  • Scans in rows, one breast 5-10 rows each row 200-300 images
  • Study provides 2,000 — 6,000 images in total
  • Images are burned onto a CD and reviewed by a radiologist on a workstation that has 3D software

SonoCine will not replace a mammogram
Mammogram less sensitive for women with dense breasts
Ultrasound can see through dense breasts
SonoCine clinical trial is to prove effectiveness in finding breast cancers.
SonoCine currently finds a breast cancer 1 in 2-300 cases that was NOT FOUND on the mammogram

What's the difference between SonoCine and Traditional Ultrasound?
Current method breast ultrasound:
• Hand held ultrasound
• Focused exam only (palpable lump or mass found by mammogram)
• American College of Radiology ACR does not support using this method to screen the entire breast

What circumstances make someone a candidate for SonoCine?
Dense breast tissue
Family history of breast cancer
Personal history of breast cancer
Previous biopsy of high risk lesion
Augmentation
Lumpy breasts
Pregnant/nursing with breast problems
